The few sideroads were private or led to villages, so when I finally found an old dirt road leading to a small river, I didn't hesitate. I wanted to camp away from the river, but I found no open space and ended up just next to the river being completely exposed to a road the other side. While setting up camp torrential rain came out of nowhere and being on a flat surface, I quickly dug some trenches/holes. Fortunately, the rain took off after an hour and I could have dinner with only a drizzle...
