I've never travelled Western Asia, so I shouldn’t have any expectations. However, over the years I have met countless travellers telling me stories about the lovely Iranian people, which makes it impossible not to have high expectations. My plan is to bike to the Caspian Sea and leave the bike somewhere there, travel around the country 3-4 weeks by bus before continuing to Azerbaijan. I’ve heard less good things about Azerbaijan, so I plan to get a 5-day transit visa and bike right through to Georgia, which I have also heard go things about. I have little knowledge and therefore expectations for Armenia and Turkey, so if history repeats itself, these are likely to offer the best experiences. As always, time will tell…
