After breakfast, I left the hostel at 8.45 for 280k to Bukhara. No big hills so if only the road was decent it was doable in 1½-2 days. 10 busy kilometres out of Samarqand before I connected with the highway. Unfortunately, the good highway from Tashkent didn't continue and for the next 50k it was between bad and Kyrgyz bad. I speculated if this stretch to Bukhara was what other bicyclists had referred to when they talked about the bad Uzbekistan roads...
