After an eventless drive we arrived in Guyuan where I assembled the bike while waiting for the gps to pick up – no luck after 15 minutes, so I asked locals for directions to a nearby hotel I had read about. Despite still being available on Booking.com they insisted it was sold out and send me next door where I negotiated a price with the owner. He told me to unpack and left but returned 10 minutes later and told me to leave with no explanation whatsoever?? I quickly found another hotel across the street for 2/3 of the price, had an early dinner and went early to bed.
