From the street, it was a kilometre barefooted walk up the stairs to a pagoda - an elevation gain of 250 metres. Despite the temperature having dropped late afternoon, it was still quite a warm walk. To my surprise most of the stalls were closed, the reason probably being that very few people walk up at this time of day but instead take a taxi almost to the top.
