It was 36k west so had hoped for a tailwind but no. The first 16k there was no wind but when it picked up the last 20k it was - yes, a W headwind - only 15-20 k/h but still. How the h... is it possible - not a minute of westernly coming up here. Though I had never seen a W the many times I checked the Broome forecast I thought it might be prevalent because of the ocean, but a couple of days later it was back to stong E/SE including when I left 5 days later....
