At La Barre-de-Monts, I was going northeast through open countryside leaving little chance of camping. So I got water and took a detour towards Ile de Noirmoutier (peninsula) where I camped in a big open forest. Despite being quite remote, I heard loud partying from surrounding towns celebrating the Bastille Day (July 14). During the day, I tried talking to people about it but nobody understood "Bastille Day" and I realised it's an English expression - the French call it La Fête Nationale... | |||||
