Changing the route, I had no idea about elevation, so it was instinct combined with local inquiries. We still had to climb some big hills but mostly the inclines were long and gradual. Once again camping was impossible in the open countryside, so we pushed late until 15k south of Matera where we finally found a small abandonned road to camp on. Again we had a controversy - late afternoon is my favourite time to bike and I often push hard to find a camp spot. Sonia was tired with no push, so I constantly had to wait which was frustrating because we were running very late... | |||||
