I stayed at the only “budget” hotel in town Myit Pyar Zaw Gyi – USD 15 (+USD 1 for internet) for a run-down hotel with an incompetent (and not very friendly) staff but that’s what you get with monopolies. Foreigners still have to stay in approved hotels which is a problem outside the main tourist destinations where the norm is one approved hotel per town...
