To his credit he drove fast to make it before border closing. With the petrol tank in the trunk, I hoped we wouldn't crash especially as the road got slippery with some heavy showers. Also a bit disconcerting, he had to turn the ignition on/off every minute to keep the fuel going (!). I was happy it was an old car where the brakes, steering wheel, etc. still worked without the engine running. We made the border at 19.45 where I rolled the few kilometres to what felt iike freedom in Kyrgyzstan... | |||||
