20k uphill out of town into a NW 25k/h headwind - surprising as I had been told it was flat all the way to the border. Several signs for not biking the highway but I had no intention of taking more horrible main roads along the highway. So I took the chance and went through the toll nodding at the girl as if this was perfectly normal and okay. And as I ecpected she said nothing - neither did anybody in the 4 police cars passing me during the day or at a police checkpoint. That's one convenient thing I learned in China - nobody bothers if it means extra work for them..
