Still in the desert approaching Ruoqiang after 113k. As I said the Chinese don't appreciate the aesthetics so I'm sure it's to prevent sand flight - what enormous resources it takes to get anything growing here. It was only 15 but still I considered staying. However, being refused at a couple of hotels I moved on after stocking up for yet another desert leg....
