Regardless of ths sign, it was fairly flat so I made decent progress despite the often very bad road. There was only one road going through the desert so I was surprised to encounter police checkpoints every 10-20k...?! It was over 45C (in the shade of which there was absolutely none) so I was happy the strong sidewsind cooled me down...
