An hour later, I went to check if the half price ferry took creditcard but I only had to wait 15 minutes for departure as the woman had misread the ferry times! They didn't take creditcard but I could pay euro, and anyway several kind people offered to pay for me in case they didn't accept euro. 8 CHF seemed fair compared to 20 CHF for the tourist boat...
