The place is best known from a myth about famous Greek poet Sappho (approx. 600 BC) jumping off the cliffs and committing suicide because of unrequited love. It is however, also related to other myths about Aphrodite (God of love), Lefkada being Homer's Ithaka (and not the island Ithaka) and Odysseus having his palace west of Nidri on the east coast.... | |||||
