As I have mentioned many times, my phone map just shows roads - no distances, elevation, etc. Ahead was a mountain range which confused me since my memory (from elevation research prior to entering China) told me there would be no big climbs and not certainly not this early. A dark cloud hung over the range but it was long gone when I finally after many hours made my way 20k uphill to the foothills of the mountains...
