The 17k into Dunhuang was west into the wind and uphill so it took a while. My initial plan had been to stay overnight here, but it was only 14.30 and I felt good, so I decided to push on for the next town. On my map it looked like 60k but it turned out to be 85k - and no signs to clarify as the town on my map had a very different name than the road signs...
