Back on a big road I was close to being hit from behind by a pick-up truck speeding to do a left turn at a big intersection and not seeing me in the side of the road until the very last minute - smoke rose from the screeching tires as the driver stood on the brakes, while I slowly pulled the big bike onto the grass. Luckily he just missed me but the closest of three close calls in only 400k in Australia reminding me that it’s not a particularly safe country to bike...
