Finally a bit east of Boone, North Carolina, I took the chance and headed up in the mountains - no reports of recent snow in this area...... Having bought supplies for a week in the mountains it was a fairly tough climb up to the Blue Ridge Parkway despite the limited altitude of 1,4k (4,000 feet)...
