My map showed several small forests close to the road, but they were either private or had been replaced by fields. Complicating things, it was still somewhat early though dark clouds and likely incoming rain was to my benefit. I settled for a small path between the road an some fields - fairly exposed to both sides but there were no alternatives and as it turned out to be fine...
