I had intended to do a long loop east through Kings Canyon NP and Sequoia NP but I was told I could experience equally big redwood/sequois at Nelder Grove 16k (10 miles) up the road. A couple of thousand feet uphill but nothing like the 5,000 feet to go through to national parks - and this time without luggage...
